Zul'Aman Mythic+ guide: all 6 bosses, strategy and rewards
Updated
Zul'Aman Mythic+ guide for Warspring, the free Cataclysm 4.3.4 private server. Zul'Aman is one of the eight dungeons of Mythic+ Season 2, with a 20 minute timer and 6 fights to learn. Below you find the story of the dungeon, what every boss does and how to beat it, and everything that is special about running ZA on Warspring.
About Zul'Aman
Zul'Aman is the ancient capital of the Amani, the forest trolls who spent centuries trying to burn down Quel'Thalas. Their war chief Zul'jin dragged the tribe into the Third War and the invasion of Silvermoon, and the elves never forgot it. Behind the vine-covered gates the trolls still worship the spirits of the hawk, the bear, the lynx and the dragonhawk, and every boss in the city carries one of those animal spirits into battle.
In Cataclysm the old raid was reworked into a five-player dungeon. Warspring keeps that version and adds Mythic+ on top: six bosses, a long jungle route and the biggest timer of the season, so smart pulling matters more here than anywhere else.
Zul'Aman on Warspring Mythic+ (Season 2)
- Timer: 20 minutes. Beat it to time the key; a timed key upgrades your keystone and pays the full rewards, an untimed run pays less and depletes the key.
- Affixes: Fortified (every pack of trash is tougher), Tyrannical (bosses have more health and hit harder) and Get Excited (kills give you haste and speed). The set is the same for every Season 2 key.
- Key levels: keys start at +2 and go up to +60. Every level is a bigger step than in Season 1, and the rewards keep growing up to +45.
- Entering: the Teleporter Stone has a Mythic menu that takes you straight into Zul'Aman on Heroic difficulty. Start the key at the entrance and the countdown begins.
- Rewards: from key level +20 every Season 2 dungeon drops Dusktide Crests, the currency for the Level 15 to Level 20 Mythic+ gear upgrades at Zaphon (weapons) and Vorgash (armor and jewelry). Higher keys drop more crests, and the Legend (VIP 8) gems are bought with them as well.
- Daily contract: Warden Veyra, standing next to Zaphon, gives one daily quest for every Season 2 dungeon. Complete Zul'Aman in time at +20 or higher and you receive five times the crests that key drops.
- Leaderboards: your best timed run in Zul'Aman counts for your rating. See the Mythic+ leaderboards, the latest runs and the best runs.
Zul'Aman bosses and strategy
Nalorakk
The bear avatar guards the first gate and switches between a troll form and a savage bear form. The bear hits far harder and rushes a target, so the tank should save a defensive cooldown for the shift, everyone else should step out of his swings, and the healer should expect a burst of damage every time he changes shape.
Akil'zon
The eagle spirit fights from a storm. Static charges build on the group and a lightning storm pulls a player into the air while eagles dive in, so spread out when the charge starts, kill the eagles quickly and keep the lifted player alive until the storm ends.
Jan'alai
The dragonhawk champion throws fire bombs across the room and calls hatchers that release eggs. Walk out of the bombs, send your damage dealers to the hatchlings first and keep the group moving; a boss that is left alone with its fire is a short fight for the healer.
Halazzi
The lynx spirit splits himself in two halfway through the fight. Burst the spirit that separates, keep the totem under control and do not let the saber form keep attacking one player. Interrupts and a steady tank make this one of the safest bosses of the run.
Hex Lord Malacrass
Malacrass brings a retinue and borrows abilities from several classes. Focus the adds that threaten the healer, interrupt the dangerous spells and expect his stolen abilities to change every pull. Group control matters more than raw damage here.
Daakara
The Amani war chief ends the dungeon by cycling through the four animal spirits, each with its own attack. Learn the order, move out of the storm and the cleave when the spirit changes, and spend your cooldowns when he is vulnerable. This is the fight that decides a timed key.
Tips for a timed Zul'Aman key
- Plan the route before you pull: the timer is generous, but the jungle packs are large and Fortified makes mistakes expensive.
- With Tyrannical every boss has more health and hits harder, so bring cooldowns for Nalorakk and Daakara.
- Get Excited gives haste and speed for kills, so chain-pull the small packs and use the speed on the long walks between bosses.
